Umuada Igbo Nigeria and Diaspora is a dynamic women’s organisation formed to unite and empower women in Nigeria and the global Igbo diaspora. Our headquarters is in Enugu, Nigeria, West Africa. The organisation was founded in 1998 by Lolo Kate Ezeofor with the vision of mobilising and organising women and youth to participate in the process of unity, peace-building, good governance, and community development.
We focus on critical issues such as family planning, reproductive health and rights, women and youth empowerment, cultural change, and advocacy on matters such as the girl child and women’s inheritance rights. Additionally, we are committed to the promotion of the Igbo language and culture, especially for children in the diaspora, and the development of Igbo land in Nigeria and any country where we have a presence.
Through our advocacy, community initiatives, and collaborative efforts, we aim to create lasting positive change in the lives of women, children, and communities both in Nigeria and beyond. We are passionate about preserving our cultural heritage while empowering women to lead and shape a brighter future.
